We thought the mayhem of May would be a good time to focus on Jim Pike – actor, voice-over, musician and writer extraordinaire. Over the years Jim has created, written and/or voiced all manner of programs for Independent Radio Services/Grace Gibson Productions,
so let’s learn 10 things we may not have known about him:

1. Jim appeared as a regular on the Midday Show with Ray Martin for 8 years and as a presenter on Burke’s Backyard for 13 years.
2. He’s a best selling poet (thanks to Midday) with over 20,000 books sold.
3. In his 40 year career in front of the mic Jim has been the voice (and voices) on more than 130,000 tracks.
4. Rode with the original Hell’s Angels in the late 1960s.
5. Wrote his first comedy sketch for money while still at school, for the legendary Mavis
Bramston Show.
6. He was told by his high school careers advisor that his future was in accountancy or banking.
7. Jim left school to become a postman after failing maths in the HSC.
8. He was the first official Creative Director in Australian radio.
9. He’s written more than 140 songs and performs them with his wife at shows and festivals on the Mid North Coast of NSW.
10. Finds it impossible to say “floral arrangement” in an Indian accent. Try it.
